Lacquered Tea Tanto

A tanto that was handforged out of reclaimed file. Clay-tempered and then hand-polished with watertones to bring out the delicate hamon. The habaki (collar), seppa (liner) as well as well as mekugi (peg) were made out of copper. Both handle and the saya (sheath) were hand carved out of regional Ash wood. The idea for ground tea and lacquer finish was borrowed from Dave J. Friesen's Kuromatsu Aikuchi Tanto. Although even that it wasn't made with the detail level as Dave does, it was still an entertaining project that allowed to learn a lot.
